100 Days at School Party!

100 Days at School Party! We have been counting 100 days at school! Wow, can you believe that we are already at 99 days and on Tuesday 30th July we will celebrate our 100 days at school. We are holding it on Tuesday (a couple of days later) as this is a day that we will both be at school. We are now counting on you to support your child to bring 100 of something to share with our class. Some examples are as follows: 100 rice bubbles, 100 pebbles, or 100 leaves. 100 of anything would be great, and it should be an easy and fun task for you and your ākonga. We also ask that you bring a healthy food option to share on Tuesday 30th July. An extra challenge is to see if you can cut it up into 100 portions! Yours in counting, Sue Scott and Latham Martin

Interchange Notice

We are looking for keen parents to run an interchange activity each Friday 11-12 during this term. This is an opportunity for you to share a skill or talent with our students and we can be flexible in terms of the age and amount of students you could work with. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Mihi

Kia ora koutou, This term we are going to be learning and introducing ourselves using our mihi. A mihi establishes links with others and is used to introduce ourselves by sharing our whakapapa (genealogy, ancestral ties) and other relevant information. To know one’s whakapapa is to know one’s identity. A mihi includes the specific geographical features associated with the area that you identify with. The mountain and river may be connected to where your child was born, where they live or a mountain or river that has special significance to them. Weka will be learning to say their mihi in class and we will also be creating a visual artwork of our school mihi. The learning of our mihi will be in small, achievable steps. There may be parts of the mihi that are not relevant for you to fill in, that’s ok, you can just leave these blank. Can you please fill in the relevant parts and return to school by this Friday 26th July. If you have any questions please come and see us. Many thanks, Sue and Latham

Term 2 Learning Goals - Rangatiratanga

Over the term, Weka have written and worked on their own learning goals related to Rangatiratanga - Leadership over their own self and their learning. You will find your child's learning goal in the slide presentation below. If you can please support them towards achieving their goal over the holidays and send evidence of them achieving it, by way of a photo to their teachers, that would be much appreciated.
