Fire Brigade Visit

We had the Hokitika Volunteer Fire Brigade visit our class to talk to us about what to do and how to keep safe in a fire. We learnt what the difference between a toy and a tool is. We know not to take any of our toys with us in a fire and we leave everything behind. We need to get low and get out.

Town Library Visit

On Thursday Rūma Weka went to the town library in Hokitika. We went there to get the book Who’s Home is This read to us and to make penguins. We made penguins because they are endangered, so we could learn about them and because our book told us about them. We did a quiz about penguins. We learnt that penguins eat fish and they can swim down 15 metres. They only need to sleep for 4 minutes. Penguins are amazing because they have built-in goggles. When they get embarrassed their feet turn pink!
