What Wonderful Weka

What an awesome 1st Term we have had with this wonderful bunch of Weka.  We have learnt so much and still have so many wonderful learning opportunities to come. Happy holidays Weka.  We took this photo for the book we have written - "Smile" said Mrs Scott and Mr Martin. We will be sharing this at assembly next term.

Yummy Watermelon

Mr Martin was very excited about giving us some watermelon for a snack. Some of us really liked it and it was very juicy too.

We love having Mrs Burt

Weka have been so lucky having Mrs Burt in our class. She has been doing lots of great maths with us and has sorted out our maths equipment too. She thinks we're pretty good at counting too!! Thanks for coming to visit and helping us Mrs Burt. We are really looking forward to you coming back.

We are always learning!!!

Learning never stops. Aahil is still thinking about building his knowledge as he eats his lunch. He was excited to find something in his lunch box that was a s shape and in between mouthfuls could tell me a word that starts with this sound. Well done Aahil - I like the way you are always trying to build on your knowledge.

Displaying Rangatiratanga at Writing Time

We are learning about 1 our School Values - Rangatiratanga.  We know that this means 'leading ourselves and others'.  In writing we know that this means taking responsibility for our own learning. Look at the fantastic tamariki we saw taking responsibility for their own learning and doing so independently at writing time.
Kairi learning how to write a new word. Ka pai Kairi, great work.

Isla and Pippa independently completing their writing.

Micah is very focussed and completing his writing independently.

Explorer of the Week

Each week in Weka we have an 'Explorer of the Week'

The 'Explorer of the Week' has the opportunity to share with the class what makes them special and the special things and interests in their lives. They also lead the class in the Welcome each morning,  call the roll and complete the daily calendar. At the end of the week the class write an Acrostic Poem about the 'Explorer of the Week' based on the things they have learnt. We all like learning about each other and the skills they are learning when sharing with others.  Have a read of our Acrostic Poems from Term 1.
